Governor Tinubu To See “Echoes From The Lagoon” - - 30 June 2000
Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be at a drama
presentation today at Glover Hall, Customs Street, Lagos. He is expected to be
the guest of honour at the command performance of “Echoes from the Lagoon”
written by Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, the economist and writer who was at various
times a commissioner in Lagos State and National Planning Minister.
The play which captures Lagos of the late 60s, especially the civil war
years, is being staged by Phoenix Playgroup of which Chief Gbadamosi is the
executive producer in conjunction with the Glover Memorial Hall, the historic
performance venue on the Island.
Top state and local government functionaries, members of the legislative arm
of government as well as private sector executives and the diplomatic corps are
expected to be at the play which has in its cast veteran actor Laide Adewale
and his son, Yomi.
Kemi Ewosanyin, Stephen Ogundele, Joyce Collins, Abiodun Popoola and Ranti
Alawoga also appear in the play which is directed by Sade Ogunde, the grand-
daughter of the partriach of Nigerian theatre, late Chief Hubert Ogunde.
